Input

Generate between 1 and 100 UUIDs at once
UUID Version
Choose the UUID generation algorithm
Output Encoding
Choose the output character encoding for the UUIDs. Base58 automatically removes dashes and is case-sensitive.

Formatting Options

Convert letters to uppercase (only for Hexadecimal encoding)
Remove hyphens from the UUID format (only for Hexadecimal encoding)

Tips & Instructions

  • Version 4 (Random): Most commonly used, provides 122 bits of randomness. Uses crypto.randomUUID() when available for maximum security.
  • Version 7 (Timestamp + Random): Modern timestamp-based UUID with better entropy and sortability. UUID v7 is excellent for generating unique, time-ordered identifiers that improve database performance and sortability, but it should not be relied upon as a standalone security feature for unguessability or access control.
  • Hexadecimal Encoding: The standard representation for UUIDs, using characters 0-9 and A-F. Can be formatted with or without dashes, and in uppercase or lowercase.
  • Base58 Encoding: A compact, case-sensitive encoding that omits visually similar characters (0, O, I, l) and non-alphanumeric characters. It automatically removes dashes and is always case-sensitive. Often used in cryptocurrencies (e.g., Bitcoin addresses) for its conciseness and error-checking properties.
  • Security Note: Version 1 UUIDs are not included as they can leak MAC addresses and timestamps, posing privacy and security risks.
  • UUIDs are globally unique identifiers with extremely low collision probability.
  • All UUIDs are generated using the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator.
